Finally, after a long beta test, the public version of iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 has been released. The release candidate for both updates was released last week, shortly after the Apple event. Apple surprises us with new beta updates while we think it’s a week before we get a release candidate. iOS 14.5 has the longest beta interaction for a non-major iOS update. Here’s how to get iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 Public or Stable Build.

Since the update has been available in beta for a few months now, most of you already know what it means. It has many important features that are finally available to the public. Last week, Apple also released iOS 14.6 beta 1, the next beta update. It’s funny to see Apple rushing through updates, literally giving users the choice between a release candidate, a public build and a new beta update.

The release candidate for iOS 14.5 is already available and corresponds exactly to the public version of iOS 14.5. Beta testers, however, will receive the update a week in advance. If you haven’t tried the iOS 14.5 beta yet, you can already enjoy the new features.

In addition to iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5, Apple also released macOS Big Sur 11.3, tvOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4. The updates for iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 will ship with build number 18E199. The update weighs 1.26 GB when downloaded.

iOS 14.5 Update (Public) – Release Notes

iOS 14.5 adds the ability to unlock an iPhone with an Apple Watch while wearing a face mask, adds support for AirTag (lunch at an event) and introduces different skin color variations for emojis with pairs, Siri adds more different voice options, and App Tracking Transparency lets you control which apps allow you to track your activities in apps and on other companies’ websites.

Download iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 Update

The stable iOS 14.5 update is available for supported devices. And the best thing about Apple is that you don’t have to wait your turn. Since this is a public release, anyone with iOS 14.4.2 or earlier can install the update immediately. If you do not receive an update notification, please check manually if the update is available. To do this, go to Settings > Software update. Then click Download and Install to enjoy the latest version of iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5.

If you are a beta tester with a beta profile installed, you probably know how to install the latest publicly available version. But if you don’t know, you can get a stable update by deleting the beta profile. This is the same as iOS 14.5 Release Candidate, so there’s no point in upgrading to a public version unless you want to try out future beta updates.

Remove the beta profile for iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the settings of your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to General and then Profile.
  3. You will now see the beta profile installed on your iPhone or iPad.
  4. Click on the available beta profile.
  5. Then click on the Delete Profile button.
  6. When prompted for a password, enter the device code and click Clear.

And if your iPhone/iPad is running on a higher version, you need to downgrade your Apple device. However, all data will be erased from your iPhone. Therefore, we do not recommend downgrading unless you want to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad.
